Overview

Wikig.net is a fan-made game wiki operated at https://wikig.net. We are not affiliated with game developers, publishers, or Steam.

Data we collect

  • Anonymous page ratings — optional emoji feedback (1–5). We store only the score and page URL, not your identity.
  • Page suggestions — optional “Suggest an edit” form. We store the suggestion text, optional source URL, and optional “how you know this” note. We do not collect your name, email, or account. For anti-spam we store a short HMAC hash of your IP for that calendar day (not the raw IP) and delete it with the suggestion. Rejected suggestions are kept up to 90 days; accepted ones are kept while editors need them. We cannot look up “your” suggestion later without extra information you send us, so we cannot honour an erasure request tied only to an IP.
  • Gamer Help — optional chat on game wikis. We store a normalized copy of the question (lowercase, with email addresses and URLs removed), the game, a topic label, and an HMAC hash of your IP for that calendar day. Raw IP, name, and email are not stored. Normalized questions are kept up to 90 days; topic counts stay while editors use them to see content gaps. This is not used to profile you as a person. Legitimate interest: moderating the form and understanding which guides are missing. You must be 13 or older to use it.
  • Rating cookie — a single cookie (wikig_rated) on .wikig.net so you cannot vote twice on the same page. No personal data.
  • Analytics (if you consent) — Google Analytics 4 aggregated usage statistics via Google Consent Mode v2.
  • Advertising (if you consent) — Google AdSense may use cookies per Google’s policies.
  • Consent Mode (no consent) — Google may receive cookieless pings for aggregated measurement; no advertising or analytics cookies are set until you accept.
  • Server logs — standard IP, user-agent, and request logs for security (retained ~30 days).

What we do not collect

We do not require accounts on public pages, do not sell personal data, and do not build user profiles for public wiki readers. Page suggestions and Gamer Help are processed under legitimate interest (moderating a public form and keeping the site safe, plus understanding content gaps — not profiling a person). We have no duty to reply.

Third-party embeds

YouTube and Twitch players load only after interaction or when embedded; their providers have separate privacy policies.
